- **Step 1 — Default**: empty fields. - **Step 1 — Field error**: per-field inline message for the specific blank/invalid field. - **Step 2 — Default**: empty fields, password strength rules displayed below the password field at all times (not only on error). - **Step 2 — Field error**: per-field inline message; duplicate-email case shows a message prompting sign-in or password reset instead of submitting. - **OTP step — Default**: 6 empty digit boxes, sent to the step-2 email. - **OTP step — Error**: incorrect code shows an inline error, does not advance. - **OTP step — Resend**: "Resend OTP" re-triggers a new code send. - **Server error/timeout** (any step): helpful message + retry, entered values preserved.

Acceptance criteria

  • First name, last name, business name (optional), email, phone, and password fields are all present on steps 1–2; first name, last name, email, phone, and password are required — business name is not.
  • Step 1 and step 2 each block advancing until their required fields are valid, with per-field inline errors — not a generic banner.
  • An already-registered email at step 2 shows a prompt to sign in or reset password instead of submitting.
  • Password strength rules (min 8 chars, uppercase, number, symbol) are shown clearly and enforced before advancing past step 2.
  • Phone number is captured and stored in international format, defaulting to US +1.
  • Step 2 submit sends an OTP to the entered email and advances to the OTP step.
  • A correct OTP creates the account and navigates to SCR-ONBOARD-05; an incorrect OTP shows an inline error without creating the account.
