- Given the user enters a merchant name, the app calls GET /contractors/search and shows matching merchants so the user can select an existing one instead of creating a duplicate.
- If no match is selected, the user can enter merchant details and, on submit for a new merchant, the app calls POST /contractors/contacts and shows a success confirmation.
- When editing an existing merchant, on submit the app calls PUT /contractors/contacts/{contact_id} and reflects the updated details.
- System validates required fields (e.g., merchant name) and blocks submission with inline errors until they are satisfied.
